Christmas in Chippenham

The festive season is once again upon us and there are loads of events going on in Chippenham this year.

Living Spit: A Christmas Carol comes to the Neeld Arts & Community Centre on Friday 1st December. We all know the story. We’ve all seen the film(s). But who’s the best Scrooge of all time? Albert Finney? Alistair Sim? Patrick Stewart? Well, just hold your horses there! Because you’ve yet to witness Bristol actor Craig Edwards’ take on Dickens’ mean miserabilist. The show starts at 8.00pm and tickets cost £14.00.


Christmas Lights Switch On takes place in the town centre on Saturday 2nd December. The main stage is set to host the Santa's Babes band, Chippenham Rock Choir and other local bands before this year's festive lights are turned on. An artisan market will also be in place in the High Street while a vintage market will be held in the Yelde.

This will be followed by a Christmas Light Experience on Island Park in Monkton Park, which will run from Thursday, December 14 to Sunday, December 17. Alongside the lights will be a schedule of Festive Fringe entertainment including live music, comedy, cabaret, and cinema screenings.


Christmas Fayre & Santa's Grotto takes place at the Chippenham Sports Club on Sunday 3rd December. Lots of gift and craft stalls to look around, Xmas card and tree decorating activities for the children and warm mulled wine for the adults and much more.

Chippenham Male Voice Choir are performing from 11.30am – 12.30pm featuring Nathan Charles Brown.

Santa is also visiting in his Santa’s Grotto, so to come and see Santa and receive a gift please purchase your tickets in advance from the bar – Only £5 per child – Tickets on sale now!


Christmas Afternoon Tea for the Over 60s at the Neeld Arts & Community Centre on Wednesday 6th December between 2.00pm and 4.00pm. The event includes non-alcoholic mulled wine, and live entertainment from Ivy Lane School choir. All who attend will have the opportunity to paint their own Christmas pottery decoration, which will be taken away to be fired professionally, before it is returned to them at a later date. The afternoon will be a wonderful way to get into the Christmas Spirit.

Chippenham Christmas Market is on Saturday 9th December between 11.00am and 3.00pm at Cousin Norman's and The Old Tavern. Plenty of stalls to pick up a Christmas gift. All stalls will be undercover and FREE to makers, crafters, charities and community groups. The event will include mulled wine, hot food, kids activities and a Hispter Santa. 


Christmas Carols & Afternoon Tea at Sheldon Road Methodist Church on Saturday 9th December between 3.30pm and 5.30pm. Festive food to eat, hot & cold drinks to enjoy, and a little singing to entertain from the Allsorts Community Choir. They will be collecting donations for Guide Dogs for the Blind. Free event.


Christmas Show at the Cause on Saturday 9th December at 7.30pm. A wonderful Christmas Show with beautiful songs from the Cause Choirs – Lingmara and Gospel Rocks! An evening of special seasonal songs to warm the heart and lift the spirits this Christmas – with festive songs for all.

Full bar including Mulled Wine.

Christmas Wreath Making on Tuesday 12th December at the Rivo Lounge between 6.00pm and 8.00pm.

Made using Wool Couture Epic Extreme 100% Unspun Merino Wool and decorated with a range of Christmassy treats, pom poms and felt balls, you can truly make your wreath your own. Pick your base colour, and on the day you will have the option of many different colours and materials to decoration you individual wreath.

Christmas Pudding Wreaths will come with pre-made holly leaves, but if you would like to make them yourselves, the pattern will be available to do so.

Profits made from this workshop will be donated to Alzheimer’s Support Wiltshire.

Note: Handmade decorations are available at a surplus charge of £4 per decoration, or 3 for £10.


Christmas Island on Island Park from Thursday 14 December – Sunday 17 December.

Alongside the lights, this years’ focal point will be the beautiful wooden Roundhouse; a cosy, heated, wooden structure – the perfect spot to enjoy our jam-packed roster of entertainment as well as some well-earned ‘Hygee’.

New for this year, is a carefully curated schedule of Festive Fringe entertainment, including live music, comedy, cabaret, cinema screenings, workshops, and even a festive pop bingo!

The Aprés Ski Bar will return, serving up delicious hot and cold drinks, mulled wine and wintery cocktails, alongside some of the South West’s top-notch food vendors.


Here We Come A' Carolling sees The Village Singers’ provide a magical musical extravaganza for all the family on Saturday 16th December between 7.30pm and 10.00pm.

The programme includes seasonal music, orchestral pieces and carols to sing along to. And it doesn’t stop there! In addition to an evening of fabulous music and singing there will be a bar and a raffle and we will also be welcoming a special seasonal visitor!

This year’s Christmas event will be accompanied by a full orchestra.

The event takes place at St Andrew’s Church, Chippenham.

Santa's Christmas Wish comes to the Neeld Arts & Community Centre on Sunday 17th December between 10.30am and 11.30am.

Join a fun, festive, musical adventure to give Santa the very best Christmas, then meet him at his home in the North Pole!

There every child will receive a special present from Father Christmas in our popular meet, greet and treat, after the most Christmassy Christmas show ever!

Songs include festive favourites Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Jingle Bells, When Santa Got Stuck Up The Chimney, The Twelve Days Of Christmas, We Wish You A Merry Christmas and many more!

Santa’s Christmas Wish is a festive, song-filled, interactive family show particularly suitable for 2-8 year olds. It lasts 45 minutes and is followed by a special meet, greet and treat with Father Christmas himself!
