Looking to volunteer in 2024? - Join Us
As we start a brand new year why not consider volunteering with Chippenham Hospital Radio.
What We Do
Chippenham Hospital Radio provides programming for patients, staff and visitors at the town's hospital as well as the wider community, with music, information, interviews and entertainment.
The amazing part is that all of this is provided by a team of volunteers.
We were established in 1984 (we celebrate 40 years this year), the radio station can be heard around the hospital, online at chippenhamhospitalradio.com, via the tunein radio app or if you have a smart speaker, just ask it to "Play Chippenham Hospital Radio".
We are a registered charity and a member of the Hospital Broadcasting Association.
Presenting a Radio Programme
Our programmes are broadcast throughout the week and weekend from our studio based within the hospital. When we're not live we run an automated service which provides listeners with music and news.
Most of our programmes are two hours long, with our presenters producing both speech and music programmes that entertain patients, often providing a link to the outside world with news and community information.
Those volunteers who wish to present a programme are fully trained both on the technical side and presentation skills by an ex-broadcaster. With these skills we provide a great foundation so volunteers can feel confident that they can deliver programmes that are both enjoyable and entertaining for both themselves and the listener.
If broadcasting is not your thing, they we have opportunities to support us with fundraising, technical and administration.
Why do people volunteer?
There are many reasons why people choose to get involved. Here are just a few:
- Make a difference to patients stay in hospital
- Do something inspiring
- Learn new skills
- Meet new people.
We'd love to hear from you!
