Chippenham Armistice Day & Remembrance Sunday 2023

Chippenham Council have announced details of this year Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday.

Armistice Day will take place on Saturday 11th November and will include a 2-minute silence outside the Town Hall. Members of the public are asked to gather outside the Town Hall no later than 10.50am.

In partnership with the local branch of the Royal British Legion and 9 Regiment RLC, Armistice will be led by the Mayor of Chippenham, Councillor Declan Baseley, and the Royal British Legion in remembering those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Remembrance Sunday will take place on Sunday 12th November and members of the public are invited to gather at the Town’s War Memorial as the town remembers those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. 

The public Act of Remembrance is due to start prior to the 2-minute silence at 11am, please arrive at the war memorial from 10.45am.

If you are a veteran or serving personnel and you wish to pay your respects close to the memorial please make yourself known to Town Council event staff who will show you to a specifically reserved area.

The traditional parade down the High Street will take place after the Act of Remembrance.

The Market Place Car Park will be closed to the public from 1pm on Saturday 11th November until 1pm Sunday 12 November.

The disabled parking bays outside of Superdrug in the High Street will be closed from midnight Saturday 11th November until 1pm Sunday 12th November.

Road closures around the War Memorial come into effect from 10.30am on Sunday 12 November.
