Chippenham Christmas Lights switch-on 2017

It's that time of year again, when Chippenham gears up for the festive period and this year's Christmas light switch-on is guaranteed colour, comedy and cheer as Chippenham Town Council are thrilled to announce that comedian Joe Pasquale will be headlining the event.

Joe has been delighting audiences with his live stand-up tours for 20 years and is appearing in the pantomime Aladdin at the Bristol Hippodrome this Christmas.

Following the success of 2016's Christmas Light switch-on, this year's event will be extended to two days to kick off the Christmas season in Chippenham.

The official light switch on, will take place on Friday 24th November, with entertainment starting from 4pm for visitors to enjoy. Throughout the event there will be a whole host of festive and fun activities in the town centre, arts and crafts, face painting, market stalls, festive characters, competitions and more.

The annual Santa's Grotto in Emery Gate Shopping Centre will also open its doors from 3pm - 7.30pm and Chippenham Street Pastors - Chippenham BID's chosen charity - will be providing a Safe Zone as well as collecting to raise funds for the work they do in the town.

The Market Place will once again host the main stage with entertainment kicking off at 5.30pm with a very special performance from BBC Pitch Battle's '4Tune Tellers', a close-harmony vocal group, before on the main stage there will be some of the best local talent including Harmony-Asia, who performed at the Carnival earlier this year and the well-loved abseiling Santa will scale the Angel Hotel in the build up to the official Switch-On moment at 6.30pm where Joe Pasquale will illuminate Chippenham in his own iconic way, swiftly followed by a spectacular firework display, supported by Emery Gate Shopping Centre, lighting up the skies above the town centre.
