Chippenham’s Christmas Lights switch on is Friday 29th November 2013.
The event which draws hundreds of people to the Town Centre will take place around the Angel Hotel balcony, replacing the stage area of previous years.
Kicking off at 6pm, Father Christmas will abseil down the front of the Hotel onto the balcony and there will be a roadshow with festive music to warm up the crowds ahead of the lights switch on, which is schedule to take place at 6.30pm.
The Mayor of Chippenham Councillor Sylvia Gibson will throw the switch with help from special guests who include Isabel Dykstra a pupil at Charter Primary School. She won this year’s Design a Christmas Light Motif Competition.
They’ll also be stalls and a funfair throughout the High Street, a Community Fayre in the Neeld Hall and to round of the evening a fantastic fireworks display.
The town’s Christmas tree is being decorated by children from Ivy Lane School.
The Christmas Lights switch on will “kick off” a programme of festive events in the town including the second Victorian Fayre on Saturday 14th December 2013 organised in conjunction with Wiltshire Council.
