Martin Presents the Friday Night Project..

If Aliens landed in Chippenham, how would you describe your programme to them?
Friday night fun, with lashings of soul and groove, plus a weekend sports preview, 'Under The Covers' (an original song and a cover version of it, plus all the trimmings) and information of some local events to look forward to at the weekend.

What’s your favourite song of all time?
Wow, how do I choose from so much music out there?  'Slip Inside This House' by the 13th Floor Elevators is something special, and for something both groovy and profound it's hard to beat James Brown's "I Don't Want Nobody to Give Me Nothing (Open Up the Door, I'll Get It Myself)".

The first album you brought?
I honestly don't remember, but I do know the first 7" I got – which was Ma Coo Ca Choo by Alvin Stardust (I was very young!) from a DJ who was selling off the records he didn't want anymore - that should have been a warning to my Mum!  My first 12” was Grandmaster Melle Mel’s 'White Lines' in 1983 which at least is something I can be proud of.

What’s your favourite flavour of crisps?
Something 'modern', like Thai curry or sweet chilli.

Who or what makes you laugh?
Lots of things, from professional 'comedians' such as Sean Lock, Tony Hancock, The Goons, The Marx Brothers and Jacques Tati, to broadcasting geniuses like Danny Baker, through to quirky things like weird things I spot as I walk the streets, and my kids being daft.

If you had a celebrity friend/partner who would it be?
I wouldn't mind a few beers with Steve Biko, Siddhartha Gautama (Buddha), and Danny Baker - what a conversation that could be!

The best thing about Chippenham?
It's a practical, unpretentious town. I can get most things done there and John Coles Park is a brilliant park for the kids (and the adults).
